ESC: A REJUVENTATING EXPERIENCE

Esc is a fully immersive experience, where visitors can feel physically and mentally away from the city and its urban stressors. This experience allows for relaxation, rejuvenation, and self-reflection, ultimately perpetuating a momentary break from one’s hectic lifestyle.

Multi-sensory Biophilic Design – the utilization of natural elements for environmental experiences – can have restorative solutions to the constant stressors found in urban environments. "Extent" in Biophilic Design is the ability for visitors to freely explore their environment with a sense of mystery. As a tool for constructing narratives, Extent can be utilized to create restorative impacts and affects on visitors.

WATER: the multi-sensory presence of water enhances one’s experience in a manner that is soothing, prompts contemplation, enhances mood, and provides restoration from cognitive fatigue.

BREEZE: Light breezes and other natural movements can improve concentration, reduce blood pressure and stress hormones, especially when the movement is stochastic and ephemeral.

PLANTS: Plants in the space creates a visual connection to nature that lowers blood pressure and heart rate, and positively impacts attitude and overall happiness.

LIGHT:   Dynamic and diffused lighting positively impact circadian rhythm and increase visual comfort. They convey expressions of time and movement to evoke feelings of drama, intrigue, and calmness.

ROCKS: Apart from a visual connection to nature, rocks also create a pattern of risk and peril, drawing attention and curiosity, ultimately resulting in strong dopamine and pleasure responses.
